Start your convention operating a model railway! Two local layouts that have hosted regular operating sessions for several years are offering Convention attendees the chance to participate in an organised session on Friday afternoon. You have the choice of John Johnston’s home N-scale Grand Trunk Southern, or the HO Model Engineers Society‘s large club layout modelling Hamilton in the mid-50s.
John Johnston’s N Gauge Grand Trunk Southern
Set in Central Pennsylvania in 1969, the two-level, 11’ x 22’ Grand Trunk Southern answers the question “What if the Pennsy had become part of CN instead of merging into Penn Central?”

HOMES Club
HOMES models the hometown Toronto, Hamilton & Buffalo Railway in Hamilton and Welland, with CPR and New York Central pool trains, CNR interchanges in Hamilton and Welland, all in a 36’ x 65’ space. The 30’-long steel mill scene includes the operating Stelco Railway. Operations include a prototype based time table and Car Forwarding using JMRI Operations Pro.

So, HO scale or N? Private home or club? 1969 or 1950’s? If you’d like to operate, you can indicate your preference on the Convention Registration Form.
The operating sessions will run Friday afternoon, before you check in at Mohawk. These sessions are optional, of course, and space is limited. They run at the same time as the other off-site activities.
